In line with NHS England guidance, we have changed the way that repeat prescriptions are ordered and processed. A batch of 3-6 months of prescriptions will be sent to your nominated pharmacy.
If you take regular medication it is your responsibility to request the prescription in good time to allow time for processing.
All requests for repeat medication must be made in writing. You may do this in several ways:
Please allow Four full working days before collecting your prescription from a surgery and Five working days if collecting your medicines directly from a pharmacy. These times start the day after you have put your prescription request in.
NB: The doctors cannot take responsibility for prescribing medication unless patients are up to date with health checks and reviews. If you do not attend for a regular review when invited by the surgery the doctors may withdraw the repeat prescription facility for your own safety.
If you are not eligible for free prescriptions and you need more than 12 prescription items per year (2 or more per month), you can save money by obtaining a prepayment certificate. Certificates can be obtained that are valid for 3 or 12 months. Click here for more information on PPC by NHS Choices, or speak to your pharmacist.
Church Street Partnership now offers electronic prescribing. This is a way of sending prescriptions securely to the patients’ chosen pharmacy, without the need for a paper copy. If you have regular repeat prescriptions and wish to use the service, please advice the surgery of your nominated pharmacy.

If you have a query about medication you received recently from Princess Alexandra Hospital, please call their patient medicine helpline: 01279 827054 (Mon-Fri, 9am – 5pm)
Requests for medications that have not been issued for some time, or require a review will not be authorised. You will need to call to book an appointment unless your medication is on repeat. Please be aware that you may be asked to book an appointment with a clinician for a review before your medication is issued PLEASE DO NOT SEND APPOINTMENT REQUESTS VIA THIS FORM. For appointments, please contact the surgery by phone or eConsult
