Following changes to the GP contract, practices across the country are required to make more of a patients’ medical record available to that patient online, if they wish to access the information. Due to these changes the process for registering for online services has become more stringent. Each patient wishing to register for online services must first read the information leaflet also available from the surgery, and complete a registration form. You must come into the surgery, with photo ID and proof of address to complete the registration process. Acceptable forms of ID include a passport or EU driving licence.
Each person must register for themselves. Parents (or those with parental responsibility) of children under 13 years of age can register for proxy access to online services for their child. We will need to see the photo ID of the parent and the birth certificate for each child. Once the child reaches 13 year of age, access to online services will be suspended. It can be reactivated if the child gives their consent to their parent having access. This must be done in person, with ID. Please note that parents do not have an automatic right to access the records of their children who are aged 13, 14 or 15: the consent of the child must be obtained.
At 16 years of age online access accounts will be suspended and only the patient may re-register.
Online Questionnaires allow patients with long-term health problems to help manage their condition. Please do not complete questionnaires relating to medical conditions that you do not have.
A simple guide to SystmOnline.
Patient Online – Getting Started
What you need to know about Patient Online
We hope that patients will find the online services useful. However, if an individual abuses their online account we will block the access and that patient will need to use the other means of booking appointments, requesting repeat prescriptions etc.
Inappropriate use includes but is not restricted to:
– sending abusive messages
– booking, then wasting appointments
– over-ordering medication
– repeatedly requesting services that are not available
Any changes to the online access services will be posted on this website.
The SystmOnline App is available for both iOS and Android devices. Please be aware that it does not currently contain all the features of the SystmOnline website. In particular, it does not allow for viewing detailed coded record (test results, diagnoses etc).
