We receive hundreds of investigation results a week and do not routinely contact patients with their results, though we would endeavour to do so if a result was seriously abnormal.
*** Please ensure that you inform the surgery if you change any contact details, ***
especially telephone numbers
Patients should allow one week after having their test before contacting the surgery for the results. This allows time for the results to reach the surgery and for a GP to to review and comment on the result. Please note that if your test was requested by a consultant during an outpatient appointment, the result will go back to your consultant, not the surgery.
When telephoning the surgery for test results, please avoid the busiest times if you can (ie 8.00 - 9.00am, 1.45pm - 2.30pm). The receptionist will tell you what message the doctor has recorded, she is unable to interpret the results herself. If you do not understand the doctor's message please ask the receptionist to arrange a telephone call from the doctor or nurse.
