Fair Processing Notice

To make sure you receive the most appropriate care and treatment, it may be necessary to share the information in your health records with other health professionals and organisations that are involved in your care. Computer records are now set up in such a way that health professionals from one organisation may be able to look at your records from another – for example, the hospital may be able to look at your GP record. They must ask your permission before they do this, and you have the right to refuse. For more details download the leaflet regarding how the NHS uses and protects the information held about you (leaflet below).

Information Sharing

NHS Digital uses health and care information for research and to help plan services. Previously, if you had wished to opt out of your information from being used for purposes other than you direct care, you notified your GP surgery and a code was added to your record which acted as a block.

From May 2018 your GP surgery can no longer record your preference to this form of data sharing. Please read the leaflet below for further information
