GP surgeries provide primary care to the communities they serve. If more specialist treatment or investigations are required, patients are referred by GPs to secondary care services. This includes hospital out-patients and mental health services.
Most hospital referrals from the surgery go to the Princess Alexandra Trust, and appointments will be at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow), St. Margaret's Hospital (Epping) or the Herts and Essex Hospital (Bishop's Stortford), depending on with speciality you have been referred to. The Rivers Hospital (Sawbridgeworth) also host some NHS/PAH referrals.
Once the referral has been sent, the practice has no information regarding appointment location or date. Queries for PAH referrals should be made to:
- the Princess Alexandra Patient Contact Centre: 01279 827391
Transport to hospital
